In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Vika's mother reached out to us again to ask for help in buying Sabril (an anticonvulsant). For a month and a half, the whole family has been in self-isolation due to Covid 19. Vika was the first to fall ill during rehabilitation in Kyiv. Classes had to be interrupted and returned home as a matter of urgency to quarantine. Then one by one the whole family got sick. Everyone has recovered except Vika, she still has a positive test, so the whole family has to be at home. Her father lost his job during this time. Their savings are depleted. Therefore, Vika's mother is afraid of being left without the anticonvulsant drug Sabril, which can only be bought abroad. Especially in connection with the situation with the growing incidence of Covid 19, the borders may close. $235 will provide Vika with her essential medication for the next 5 months. Can you help?
