After an eventful year as a member of the Anti-Defamation League’s Young Leadership Institute I have decided to join the New England Associate Board. Our program culminated last spring in Washington DC, where I was fortunate enough to hear a host of influential leaders, including Rod Rosenstein, Derrick Johnson (NAACP), Aly Raisman, and Joseph Kennedy, speak out against the rising tide of extremism. I also joined fellow members in lobbying Congress to support critical legislation that ensures equality and justice for all.
The Young Leadership Institute provided me with the unique opportunity to get involved with a bipartisan organization whose mission is more critical than ever as we continue witness a rise in extremist ideology around the world. Right-wing fascists feel free to express their racism in public, anti-Semitism is flourishing within the ranks of progressive politics, and Islamic extremism continues to actively challenge the basic notions of freedom, pluralism and decency.
I look forward to stepping up my involvement as a board member and part of this role is to help raise funds for the organization.
