I‘m not throwin away my shot at the Chicago Marathon, and I’m feeling stronger than ever as I start training in 2019! Last season I made it past some of the toughest marathon training milestones, but not to the start line. This October I’m going to cross the finish to raise money for Back on My Feet, an organization that is meaningful to me.
Back on My Feet seeks to combat homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. They have local chapters across the country in twelve cities, including NYC and Chicago.
I first heard about Back on My Feet from my good friend Sarah who started running with one of the Chicago teams as she trained for the Marathon a few years ago. In my experience, the discipline instilled through physical training translates through to all aspects of life . Further, the accomplishment of crossing the finish line instills the confidence needed to tackle life’s most difficult challenges.
If you‘ve seen homelessness, been approached on the subway by a homeless individual seeking help or generally want to express support, please consider donating to this worthy cause .
