When we started 5 Gyres, there was little global research to understand the scope of the plastic pollution issue. 10 years later, with the help of a committed team of volunteers from around the world - journalists, citizen scientists, company CEOs, artists, students, musicians, and more - we've conducted the science to drive upstream solutions, including the first research in the Great Lakes that lead to the discovery and then ban of plastic microbeads in personal care products.
Were now moving upstream - with your support - through our TrashBlitz program, and our growing network of Ambassadors. This year, we welcomed our 1,000th Ambassador member, spanning in 64 countries around the world. Our Ambassadors are change makers in their communities, working to drive policy change, eliminate single use plastics, and raise awareness about plastic pollution around the world.
Help me raise $500 to better support our Ambassadors in their countries - providing them with resources, tools, and soon, microgrants to continue their amazing work!
