We are a brother and sister duo who grew up hiking and climbing with our family and also serving at our local Boys and Girls Club. Our passions for climbing, helping and serving others, and seeing kids in these programs grow and succeed have only been elevated (pun intended) over the years. So we thought, "why not find a way to bring these two things together"?! Starting on January 20th, 2019 we are climbing Mt. Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America, which towers in the Andes mountain range. We feel incredibly blessed and fortunate to do something we have dreamed about (and saved our pennies for) and we feel called to make an effort to bless others in the process. So, we will be raising funds for Boys and Girls Clubs of America in order to help establish scholarships, leadership development, and a safe place for kids to learn and to be kids. We have set our fundraising goal of $2,284.10 to reflect Mt. Aconcagua's elevation of 22,841 feet. We will be working hard to climb to higher ground and to see things from a different perspective, but our trek doesn't compare to the work and uphill battle that a lot of the students and members of Boys and Girls Clubs across the country face. The mission of the Boys and Girls Club is: "To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens." They are doing so by helping these students graduate from high school and set up a plan for the future. The Boys and Girls Clubs also teach students how to live a healthy lifestyle. We are hoping to raise awareness and funds to make their climb to a better life conquerable.
