My cancer story is a whirlwind. In less than a month, I went from having no idea anything was wrong to surgery and a stage 3 ovarian cancer diagnosis. THAT meant chemo. One of the worst days after my diagnosis was the morning of my first chemo cycle. Everyone who had talked to me told me I needed to go into chemo ready to fight. My head needed to be in a positive space. That was the expectation. The reality was oh so different. What happened first was so upsetting. Rsther than labs and a visit with the doctor, I was directed into the financial office where the office manager informed me that my treatement would cost upwards of $4000 and asked how I would be paying. Just like that. Like it was nothing. It was a shock to then be told that we could reschedule my treatments if I needed that. I was devastated, but not because of the amount of the cost. The timing was TERRIBLE. I had no time to think, come up with a plan, or figure out what to do. Also, I was just starting my new job and only had 10 days before my current benefits would expire, so this was STRESSFUL. I am. a classroom teacher, so while having that kind of money immediately on hand is rare, i had help from family. My bill is paid, but I never want anyone to feel they have to walk away from chemo because they cannot Pat. Please help me raise money for someone who might not have family to call on in a tough situation. Thank you for visiting my DO SOMETHING fundraising page. Donate now!
