WASHINGTON FOOD FUND
Washington Food Fund (WAFF) raises money to keep food banks and pantries stocked, in cities and rural communities across WA. Learn more about WAFF >
This is part of the Amwell Cares initiative that launched on November 13, aiming to raise funds in line with the global generosity movement of Giving Tuesday. Amwell’s goal is to encourage employees across all our locations to support local food banks at an especially challenging time. For every employee-given dollar throughout these two weeks, Amwell is committed to matching 1:1!
*Please do not direct non-Amwell employees to this donation site. Rather, you can send them directly to the WAFF Website. Thank you!
Why local food banks?
Among the various social determinants of health, food insecurity has one of the most extensive impacts. Those who are food insecure are disproportionately affected by chronic diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity. All of these conditions exacerbate adverse effects on overall health and well-being. As a result of the economic impacts of COVID-19, food insecurity in the United States has nearly doubled, leaving approximately 23% of households unsure about where to get their next meal or without enough nourishment to meet their needs. During the upcoming holiday season and amid the ongoing pandemic, we are doing our part to help members of our communities access one of the most basic aspects of healthcare — nutritious meals.
