A delegation from First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor will be travelling to Nicaragua the first week of March to partner with AMOS Health and Hope. Our delegation will be supporting AMOS' work by hosting an Early Childhood Development Workshop, a Dental Education Workshop and a Youth Nutrition Fair. We will also be remodeling the waiting room of the health clinic. We invite you to partner with us, as we partner with AMOS. We are grateful for your financial contribution; it makes this work possible.
Early Childhood Development Workshop:
In 2018, AMOS piloted a project with mothers of children under 2 yeards old (being the most critical sage gruop) in order to help educate and empower mothers to be active educators for their children in their own homes. AMOS' goal is for mothers to view themselves as the "first teachers" for their children even before they go to preschool. We will be serving alongside AMOS staff to lead a series of engaging workshops for mothers with projects to stimulate their children at home.
Dental Education:
AMOS has a goal to reinforce edcuation about healthy practices that are taught in schools. Our delegration will host activities for children that encourage healthy habits as part of a Vacation Bible School experience.
Youth Nutrition Fair:
The AMOS youth group has 20-40 youth who reguarly attend weekly activies. These activities empower the teens to make healthy life decisions. Youth will reserach more about nutrition, choose and cook a healthy recipe and then provide samples for all those who attend the Nutrition Fair. We will be working alongside the youth to help with preparations and to promote the fair.
Remodeling of the Health Clinic's Waiting Room:
The Samaritan Clinic on the AMOS campus has seen an increase of patients in the wake of the economic crisis of 2018. The reliable health care and steady stock of medicine is attracting even more patients. With this increase, patient wait time is increasing as well. We will be painting the waiting area, improving seating, creating a kids' corner and installing a TV monitor.
We look forward to supporting and working alongside the AMOS staff in Nejapa! Thank you for partnering with us!
