Every day across Greater NY, the Red Cross sees the devastating impact of home fires in the communities we serve. That’s why our urgent support is so critical to our neighbors who have lost their homes, their possessions and sometimes their pets and loves ones. Seven people lose their lives in fires each day across the country, most in homes that lack working smoke alarms.
And throughout the pandemic, home fires have not stopped. In fact, our support following these tragedies becomes even more important than ever to families also coping with the stress and anxiety brought on by COVID-19.
The American Red Cross in Greater NY needs your help to provide urgent resources—food, lodging, blankets, and other relief items to thousands of residents forced to confront the traumatic aftermath of these emergencies every year. This lifesaving support is carried out by dedicated volunteers trained to intervene in these difficult situations.
Your financial support also helps the Red Cross prevent home fires by funding free smoke alarm programs and fire safety education.
