Hi everyone, and thank you for visiting my CrowdRise page for AFSP! I am extremely excited to announce that I will be running the 2020 Boston Marathon to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention! This has been something that I have been working towards for a long time and I am extremely grateful that I have finally been given the opportunity to run and raise money for such a great organization.
Now a little bit about me and why I’m running. Suicide has recently had a very large presence in my life. I have spent the past several summers working as an ocean lifeguard in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Over the last four years, three of our lifeguards have ended their own lives. I have come to witness first hand how devastating and tragic suicide can be. I truly feel that the Seaside Heights Beach Patrol is a family, and I will be running to honor the memory of our three brothers that we have lost, Jason Aires, Brian Kurinzi, and Gregory Fazekas.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is an outstanding organization that does a tremendous amount of good. They fight to bring suicide “out of the darkness” by funding research, advocating for mental health, and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.
