I'm running my first half marathon June 20 on behalf of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) in Duluth, Minnesota along the shores of Lake Superior!
While it's not always easy sharing your story, I'll share a bit of mine here. I've struggled with depression, anxiety, and OCD for many years but it hasn't stopped me from achieving so many things that I am proud of and grateful for; this is in no small part due to understanding that I'm not alone in this battle and help is out there whenever I need it via groups like the AFSP.
While I can hardly run a mile now, I'm excited to challenge myself to run 13.1. In signing up for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon (a.k.a. Grandma's Half Marathon), I've agreed to raise $500 for the AFSP but I'm setting my goal a little higher and I hope you'll help my achieve that goal!
Your contribution - big or small - will go directly to the AFSP to help them deliver innovative prevention programs, fund scientific research, and provide resources to those affected by suicide as well as help me run my first Half Marathon!
