I have been dancing at the Colorado Conservatory of Dance ("CCD") for almost 10 years. While I receive great dance training at CCD, you may be surprised to learn that CCD also does a lot of great volunteer work for the community, including:
· Work with at-risk elementary schools to bring arts-integrated learning into the classroom · Teach dance to students with adaptive learning needs, both here at CCD and in two public elementary schools
· Perform anti-bullying ballets for at least 4,000 elementary students each year
· And…deliver a special Nutcracker performance specifically adapted for people with sensory needs, so families with special needs can make happy holiday memories together!
As part of the Studio Company at CCD, I take time off from school to perform the anti-bulling ballets and am touched by the warm reception we receive from the elementary students. I am looking forward our December Nutcracker performances, where I will be the "Columbine Doll" in the opening party scene, a Snowflake, and a Flower. I love dancing at CCD and being a part of their community efforts.
