Amanda is a 35 year old wife, and mother of seven. She is currently battling Stage Four Cervical Cancer. In April of 2020 Amanda was diagnosed with Stage Two Cervical Cancer. She immediately began daily radiation and weekly chemo. Following this she was re-diagnosed with Stage Four Cervical Cancer as it had spread to her lungs and bones around her hip. In June of 2020 she began a more aggressive chemotherapy that was later determined to be ineffective. Currently Amanda is undergoing immunotherapy to hopefully slow down the progression of her cancer.
Amanda has many loves. She loves welding, touring museums, seeing light houses, relaxing at baseball games, building things, and other creative activities. However, the thing she loves the most is spending time with her husband, kids, and other parents at the softball fields. Fun fact: She also loves flamingos, geese, ducks, and basically any bird!
If there is anything that Amanda has learned from her experience it is two things. First, she really, REALLY enjoys having short hair. Second, she thinks people should take less for granted and live in the moment. Amanda told us if she could tell any newly diagnosed young adult anything she would tell them, "Find something to laugh about, find some humor even if everything seems bleak". These are wise words from a truly amazing woman. Whether you know this strong woman or not, she could be any of us and doing this for her is doing what any of us would want to be done. Live for Today wants to help Amanda and her family create lasting memories together. We want your contribution to her Life Adventure so that we can send her and her husband to Amelia Island for a Valentine's weekend getaway, and a professional photographer in Jacksonville for family pictures that they can cherish forever.
