I am running in the Boston Marathon (for the 2nd time) on Monday April 20, 2020.
It will be my 6th marathon and my last. (I think)
Is it OCD, a passion, an addiction, or am I just crazy; or all of the above ?
I will be running in participation with the John Hancock charity organization raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association. I chose this organization because my family and so many other families have been affected by this disease.
Here are some current statistics:
Currently, 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease.
By 2050, this number is projected to rise to 14 million people in the US.
1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.
Many of us have family members or friends that have been affected in some way from Alzheimer’s: Either from having the disease, caring for someone with the disease, or making difficult decisions for someone with the disease.
Money raised will be used for research and care for individuals.
The Alzheimer’s Association is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization.
Donations are tax-deductible. Federal tax ID number is 13-3039601.
Thank you in advance for your donations and well wishes as I train over the next 4+ months and run the 2020 Boston Marathon in support for Alzheimer's care, support, and research.
Lastly, if you have a loved one or a friend who is affected, or has passed away with Alzheimer’s, please share their name with me. I will run in honor or in memory of them. I will carry their names with me during the race.
