In 2013 my best friend, soul-mate and father of my children was diagnosed with ALS. Since that day Mark has inspired our family and community with his determination to live his life to the fullest. As a physician Mark has always had an appreciation for health, fitness and the miracle and fragility of life. Our ALS journey has shown me that everyday is a gift and we can choose to live everyday. This journey has also shown me what amazing family and friends we have in our life. They continue to support our family and show their love in many ways. Last May Riley our youngest son teamed up with my brother to run the half marathon and raise funds, he was the highest ALS fundraiser. This year Riley is away at University and is unable to repeat his run so Team Seger will continue as a relay team. My sister, Elizabeth my brother Michael and my BFF Kim are joining me to run the marathon and raise funds for the ALS Society of BC. These 3 people have stood by our side through all phases of our 35 year love story. ALS is not an incurable disease it is an underfunded disease. Please help us reach our goal and raise awareness and funds to support those suffering from this disease.
"The bottom line is that ALS still sucks, but through fundraising efforts and research we can strive to beat this disease. My BMO Marathon Fundraising efforts started with a simple challenge for my uncle to get in better shape. If he trained for the half marathon, I told him that I would run it alongside him. When it came to signing up for it, we learned that we were able to fundraise for the ALS Society of BC and jumped at the opportunity. Together we raised $8755 through friends, family, and our community. Our amazing support crew cheered us on throughout the entire race and greeted us at the finish line."
The ALS Society of BC is dedicated to providing direct support to ALS patients, along with their families and caregivers, to ensure the best quality of life possible while living with ALS. Through assisting research we are committed to finding the cause of and cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Your help will provide more hope.
