Yes! I'm back again. I feel like the boy who cried wolf. I keep saying, "no, really, this is my last year" participating in the Basketball Challenge, but this one is very special for two very good reasons.
First of all, this year the 12th Annual Carmel Rotary Basketball Challenge is on February 23, the very same day that I became a Rotarian - 56 years ago! and secondly, the Honoree this year is Joan Newman; a dear friend for many, many years who inspires others to make a difference in the community, as she does every day. I also have a great deal to be thankful for – a wonderful wife and family and great friends. I am a 15-year cancer survivor and at the age of 84, I still want to help make a difference. That’s why I am once again participating in the Carmel Rotary Basketball Challenge. The funds I raise will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Cancer Society – you choose. If you would like to join me, you can donate online here or if you would rather donate by check, make payable to "Carmel Rotary Foundation," and mail to PO Box 421, Carmel, NY 10512 (just put in the memo: "Al" and which organization you choose).
Thank you, again; and this REALLY is the last one!
Al
