Almost Home Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc. has saved thousands of lives since our inception 13 years ago. Sadly, the Covid 19 pandemic has affected our nation and the world, in so many ways, animal rescues included. Almost Home continues to help as many animals as we can. We continue to take in animals from local animal shelters as well as owner surrendered. We have received calls from families that have lost loved ones and must find a home for their pets. This is heartbreaking to hear, but a new reality for all of us.
Almost Home is a not-for-profit and runs strictly on donations. We have had to postpone and/or cancel our biggest fundraisers, which hurts us tremendously financially. We use these fundraisers to pay our many monthly bills including rent, utiliities, veterinary care, supplies, food, etc. We have approximately 50 cats/kittens and 25 dogs in our care at the shelter and in foster. We rely on donations to make sure we can keep our doors open. Every day is a challenge for us now, as it is for everyone else. Along with our focus, compassion, dedication, and with your financial support, we will make this happen.
Sweet Checks was rescued from the NYC animal shelter. She was probably dumped when she was no longer useful for breeding. She has been bred many, many times in her life, suffered a severely fractured elbow which was left untreated, and then finally dumped in an already overcrowded city shelter. She is a just a doll! We had our vet repair the elbow as best as it could be but because the injury was old, will always have a limp but will be pain free.
Dianna is a volunteer for Almost Home Animal Rescue and also very passionate about TNR. She has helped many cats live healthier lives outdoors and, if friendly enough, come to our rescue to eventually be adopted. Dianna was trapping in a trailer park and met a woman who feeds cats. She was told of Emerald an eight year old cat who lived his entire life outside and needed eye surgery. The feeder has three dogs and was never able to bring Emerald inside but knew how friendly he was. Almost Home decided to pay for the removal of Emerald's eye and take him into our rescue family!
While Emerald was recuperating another volunteer fell in love with him! The application was approved and the day after his follow up vet visit Emerald went to his forever home! Emerald is a super-sweet cat that just needed a chance to find a forever home.
Please help us continue to be able to do the work we were put on this earth to do. Make a donation to Almost Home and help us continue to fight and advocate and care for those that can't.
