Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the SMWC karaoke party! If you're here, it means you're considering donating, which I really appreciate, and not only because I'd like to avoid public humiliation/singing.
For ten years now I've been part of this evolving, collective effort to shift power in our region and make life better for the people most directly impacted by our economic system. I've stuck around this long, and committed my own time and money, because the SWMC is not a typical non-profit charity or service organization. Instead, the SMWC operates with the understanding that it's the people most directly affected by this system who have the ingenuity, knowledge and real authority to lead the fight to fix it. Our membership is multi-racial and multi-class, and we strive to operate according to the same principles we work to see in the other institutions of our lives – the principles of equity, transparency, accountability and universality. In that way, we're always learning and teaching each other about what racial and economic justice means, and about the world we're trying to create.
It's a great organization I'm lucky to be a part of. Thank you so much for supporting the work in the year to come!
