“I’d run 20 miles everyday if it keeps making an impact” - Ozzie Lopez
I heard the quote above from a fellow runner while we were on the bus leaving Menelas on day 5 of last years Run Across Haiti. We had just seen where the funds from this event go. We saw how our families lived their day to day lives. We saw everything they didn’t have that we all take for granted every day. There’s no WiFi, no air conditioning, often no electricity or indoor plumbing. And yet we were welcomed into Menelas, greeted with smiling faces and treated like family. We saw homes that had been built with funds from Run Across Haiti and businesses that our families had built and now were able expand with help from Work.
For me it is an honor to be able to run across this country and impact the lives of our families in Menelas. Last year I would have never thought that I could run this much again or raise this much money again until I saw what it accomplished. I’m excited to return this year and see more growth in Menelas.
Thank you for visiting my crowdrise to learn about Run Across Haiti and what Work does for the people of Haiti. Thank you for donating and supporting our impact in Haiti.
