Run across Haiti? Like the whole thing? Yes! I will be running coast to coast from Cap Haitien to Jacmel. My journey will be over 200 miles, some days I will run 13 some days I will run 52.
By now I' m sure you're wondering why I would agree to this seemingly insane ultra marathon experience. There are many reasons but the bottom line is to help others. I am partnering with Work www.dowork.org an organization that provides good and dignified jobs to the people of Haiti. The people of Haiti have been through so much and they still remain happy, loving and positive despite living in poverty and destruction.
I have so much in my life to be grateful for and I've spent so much time, money and effort to make my body strong. I'm taking this opportunity to use my blessings and strength to help others in need. I know what I am attempting is going to push me both physically and mentally in ways I have never been pushed before.
The physical and mental sacrifices that I'll be making are a small price to pay to bring attention to the people of Haiti and educate others that Haiti is a beautiful place- not one to be feared or pitied. I encourage you to follow along on my journey, learn about Haiti, and learn what Work does to help the people of Haiti.
Poverty doesn't have to be permanent. By creating good and meaningful jobs Work accompanies the people of Haiti out of poverty and restores their dignity. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to work and provide for their own family and I hope you'll support my journey to provide jobs and dignity to the people of Haiti.
