For my Bar Mitzvah project I am raising money for the Children’s Inn at NIH. For several years I have been a "healthy volunteer" at NIH, doing things like providing a blood draw, walking/running on a treadmill, and keeping a journal of what I eat, mainly for nutrition and allergy studies. This research is important to me because I have a lot of friends with allergies and maybe it will help kids with allergies in the future. Right next to the Clinical Center where I volunteer is the Children's Inn.
The Children's Inn has helped more than 14,500 children over the last 30 years. It is a home-like environment where families can stay together, for free, while their seriously ill children are undergoing treatment at NIH. The Children’s Inn uses donations for supporting families and providing them entertainment while their child is getting treatment. These families already have enough to worry about, they shouldn’t have to worry about where they get their food from or where they are going to sleep that night. The Children’s Inn provides happiness to families at a difficult time.
