My Water Story!
It all started in 2014 when my sister, Maha, came back from a WE volunteer trip to Kenya. I was 6 years old and VERY curious to know what she had done there for 21 days.....
She shared her experience and showed me pictures; Apart from building a classroom she also got to go on a water walk with the women and girls. She told me that girls couldn't go to school, because they had to collect water from LONG distances for their families. This part shocked me. What made it worse was that this water was dirty and they had to drink it!
So many people get sick and sadly die. I didn't like the sound of that at all and I wanted to do something that would make a change.
That's when my sister told me about WE. Back then it was called Free The Children. She told me about the 5 pillars and how you can fundraise for a cause . The 5 pillars are; food, water, education, health and opportunity. That's when I really understood why the WE organization started. I chose to focus on the water pillar. I decided to start fundraising for a well in Kenya. Ever since then, I have been working on my goal. I am now 10 years old and almost at the goal number: $5,000!!
I want girls like me to be able to go to school and do their chores. The well will be built close to the schools, so when the girls have finished learning, they can collect clean water and bring it to their families.
Thank you for helping me change girls' lives!!!
