Our project goal is to revitalize Albert Michaud Park in the heart of downtown Limestone, Me. The park is in such poor shape due to it being built over 50 years ago back when Loring Air Force Base was up and running. We have since had to slowly remove pieces due to the overall safety hazzards of the playground structures. Our goal for this park is to have physical activity and the joy of being outside provided within this project. The location of this park is unique due to the fact it is also within walking distance of baseball /softball fields, basketball and tennis courts. It is also part of the downtown community which enhances the walk ability and quality of life for our citizens. Purchasing new playground equipment, a Splash Pad, adult exercise equipment, and adding a walking path around the playground are just a couple of the items this project hopes to accomplish through community support.
The park is the heart of Limestone's downtown, being the most convenient, appropriate place for the community to gather and host outdoor events, and to enjoy the recreation and healthy living opportunities it offers. The park's location immediately adjacent to the town's baseball and softball fields, basketball and tennis courts provides ample space for accommodating people from throughout the town. This creates a richness in the history of the towns athletic and recreational activities, that will be lost if we don't revitalize the deteriorating park area. Its proximity to the concentrated population center in Limestone encourages citizens from all walks of life to step outside, take a walk and enjoy the outdoors. Albert Michaud Park is a vital component to maintaining and enhancing the community's overall quality of life.
With your help we can bring a safe and enjoyable space for all ages back to the Town of Limestone, ME. Thank you for your time and consideration.
