Since the JCC first opened its doors, it has served as a home away from home for my family and I. My journey at the JCC began as a camper, then a camp counselor, intern during my college years, and later was the guiding force in determining my career path. It seems all roads led to me returning to the Bridgewater JCC three years ago to serve as Camp Director at Camp Ruach and the JCC's Jewish Educator. From a young age, I was taught the importance of community, its impact, and its magnitude in the life of an individual. As a professional, I am moved everyday to help create a caring, supportive, engaging, and connected community so that others may experience similar joy and positive meaningful experiences.
When COVID-19 forced the JCC to close its doors back in March, we reopened them virtually nearly immediately and found dozens of ways to continue spreading our reach in the community. The moment we were permitted to return to in-person programming, our physical doors were opened and we were standing here waiting to welcome everyone back with our "smeyes" (smiling eyes!). One of our greatest achievements of the last few months was successfully opening and running an unforgettable season of Camp Ruach, filling a great void and necessary outlet of socialization and recreation for both children and staff. From serving children and seniors to the special needs community and general fitness and recreation, the JCC has been a strong support to so many people and families.
In this year of uncertainty, our community members, staff and board members have been tested like never before. Our primary focus is to continue the vital services the JCC provides for many years to come. We are in pursuit of much-needed funding to continue our mission. We have a group of donors who will MATCH any funds we raise in the next 72 hours, up to a total of $200,000. We could have over $400,000 if we get to that number.
Please join me today in supporting the JCC to ensure that no matter what, our doors continue to stay open for all. Every little bit helps. Your $50 becomes $100. Your $18 becomes $36. Your $250 becomes $500.
