In a nod to Also-Known-As’ upcoming 25th Anniversary, we are kicking off our 25 x 25 challenge, a fundraising campaign in honor of crossing this historic milestone. While our celebration might look a bit different than originally planned, we are excited to host a series of virtual engagements over the course of 2021, culminating (COVID-permitting) in an in-person event next Fall.

WHAT IS 25 x 25?

We invite you – our community of supporters – to join us in the 25 x 25 challenge. Participating is simple, take on the challenge by committing to reach out to your network and encouraging 25 of your family members, friends, colleagues, and generous acquaintances to each donate $25.

Want to take the 25x25 a step further? Get creative and add a physical challenge – let’s see who can come up with the next ice bucket challenge!

Choose Your Challenge. Whether you plan to run a race, eat the hottest pepper, shave your head, or simply ask your family and friends for support, we appreciate your commitment to the cause.

Start A Fundraising Page. Click "Join" to  create your own page. You can use this page to ask friends and family for support.

Ask Your Family & Friends for Support. Post your page to social, send an email, encourage your network however you think is best – if just 25 people donate $25, you’ll hit your goal!

Raise Awareness. To grow our community, post fun photos on your social—just include the hashtag #AKA25x25 when you do! Don’t forget to share your photos with us, so we can share them on our social as well.

WHY 25 x 25?

A $25 donation alone may not seem like it will have that much of an impact, but it takes a village and the combined impact of our community’s generosity will ensure that AKA can continue its game-changing work. Every dollar raised will go directly to support the mission of Also-Known-As – to empower the voice of adult international adoptees, build cultural bridges, transform perceptions of race, and acknowledge the loss of the birth country, culture, language and biological family experienced by international adoptees.

We know that many are still feeling the impact from the coronavirus, and we understand that not everyone may be in a position to donate, no matter how generous your heart may be, and we want to thank you for that moment of consideration as we all seek to regain a sense of normalcy.
