Aveda Institute Madison raises funds for Breast Cancer Awareness every October. We've partnered with ABCD, After Breast Cancer Diagnosis; celebrating their 20th anniversary. ABCD provides free, personalized information and one-to-one support to people affected by breast cancer – patients, families and friends.
In 1999, a group of women – led by Melodie Wilson Oldenburg – founded ABCD because they realized having breast cancer is about much more than medical procedures. Most were breast cancer survivors who discovered that the most valuable information and support came from peers – others in similar life circumstances with similar disease experiences. They also understood two other essential truths. Cancer affects loved ones as well as patients. And, providing high quality peer support takes more than good intentions; it takes preparation and ongoing support for those helping others – especially as the breast cancer experience changes.
Join us in supporting all the breast cancer warriors and survivors in our community!
