A.E.U Foundation, a newly established and registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, strives to empower and support the underprivileged communities of Pakistan by promoting access to education for young girls and through providing clean water for them and their loved ones. We believe that the implementation of sustainable practices is the best method to make a community successful. To promote this ideal, schooling, along with other aspects that contribute to the natural and successful growth for all those involved, are centered around sustainability.
The education system in the Tharparker region of Sindh, Pakistan is not only underdeveloped, but in some villages, it is non-existent. Many of the currently enrolled students study in the absence of proper infrastructure, furnishings, books, restrooms, or a source of clean drinking water. These poor conditions have forced many of the schools to shut down. Without the proper facilities for children to pursue an education, parents lack the incentive to send their child to school. Rather, the children are encouraged to spend their free time supporting their family through other means; including spending 6-7 hours a day retrieving water from wells miles away. To encourage children to pursue an education, and to incentivize their families to allow them to do so, we will be building a “green school” in the Tharparker region of Sindh, Pakistan. The infrastructure of this school operates solely on solar energy. The solar panels will provide electricity to the entirety of the school, while also powering water pumps that will enable students to bring home water to their families and avoid the long, laborious process of obtaining water from far away wells. Additionally, students will be sent home with rechargeable lights to use in their homes so they can successfully complete their homework.
Through the help of AWARE foundation in Pakistan, the A.E.U. Foundation’s first project will build, monitor, and establish a school to provide primary school education (grades 1-5) for 120 girls in the village.
***We began this project with the goal of $28,000. Through the many generous donations we have received, we managed to make it half way to our goal. With your help, we hope to make it through the finish line!***
