Hi! I'm Bea. You may remember me from such declarations as "I will not be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro" and "I will be doing zero inspirational shit" after I finish treatment for breast cancer, yet here I am, getting ready to climb Mt. Adams!
Finding my lump at the beginning of 2019 and being officially diagnosed in March has been a harrowing experience. I've completed 16 rounds of chemo and I'm nearly finished with 34 radiation treatments. I still have six months of oral chemo and 3-5 years of monitoring to go! Fun times!
This has all been a tough ride mentally and physically. I realized a couple of months ago that I need big audacious goal to look forward to as treatment begins to wrap up. Cue the mountain climb! Maybe it's a cliché. But I get it now.
And besides, I'm not just climbing a mountain! I'm also raising money for continued cancer and MS research. Help me out by throwing a few bucks my way to benefit Climb for Hope!
AdventurHER Travel is excited to partner with Climb for Hope on a women’s mountaineering 101 trip up Washington’s second tallest mountain, Mt. Adams, while fundraising for research to find a cure for breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.
Mt. Adams is the perfect introduction to mountaineering! We’ll be pushing to summit this glaciated dormant volcano on a three day climb, exploring the beautiful Cascades wilderness and learning skills like the proper use of ice axes and crampons, risk management on the mountain, and mountain communication.
