I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2019. I went from a healthy 30 year old person to a "cancer patient", which has been one of the hardest challenges I've ever faced.
I have an opportunity to do something that to me feels so big, so important, and deeply meaningful. And that is to climb a mountain! This endeavor is two-fold: 1. give back to the cancer community by raising money for research and 2. challenge my body and mind and celebrate having a healthy body by using it to achieve a huge physical goal. In August 2020, a year after being diagnosed, I hope to be cancer free and standing on the summit of a mountain.
More about the Mt. Adams trip:
It's partnered with Climb for Hope to raise money for clinical research for vaccines to reprogram immune cells to recognize breast cancer as a foreign enemy, and to help MS patients recover function, stop the progression of the disease, and regenerate nerve cells and myelin.
I've committed to raising $2,000 for this cause. All of the money raised goes to research.
I'm joining 8 other women on this three day adventure led by AdventurHER Travel. We'll learn mountaineering skills like the proper use of ice axes and crampons, risk management, and mountain communication on Washington's second highest peak (12,276 feet).
THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me so far since my diagosis. Thank you in advance for your donation, it means the world to me.
