Adventure Science Center serves the Middle Tennessee community under the guiding mission to open every mind to the wonders of science and technology, fostering a better understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Mission-driven the Science Center primary goal is to change lives through extraordinary experiences in science and innovation. At our core, we address this goal through 44,000+ square feet of interactive exhibits, an ever-evolving portfolio of immersive learning experiences, and awe-inspiring shows in the Sudekum Planetarium.
The unfortunate reality is that Tennessee students, in particular Metro Nashville students, fall below the necessary aptitude for science and math to succeed in an ever-evolving workforce. Creative learning outside of the classroom at informal science education institutions, like science centers and museums, is critical to a child's academic development and perception of science careers. Annually, Adventure Science Center engages more than 53,000 students and teachers were engaged onsite during school trips. We strive to offer schools a diverse array of programming, including immersive labs and awe-inspiring shows in the Sudekum Planetarium. All programs are designed to meet state core curriculum and national education standards through collaborations with local educational institutions seeking to promote science literacy and experiences beyond the classroom environment.
Students visiting on school trips receive free or reduced admission from the retail value of general admission. Taking into account staffing, supplies, exhibitions, and building expenses, the operational cost of serving one student is $15. The $6,000 goal will cover the operating costs of supporting 400 students.
