For those that know me as well as those that do not, please understand I have been through many ups and downs in my life. My worst downs were being arrested more than 25 times and incarcerated a few times. However, it's my pleasure to speak of the positive changes in my life, which include receiving my master's degree in communications with a focus on mass incarceration and reentry in addition to starting a nonprofit to help others who were formerly incarcerated. I have made the 180 degrees turn around and want to help others get out of the stranglehold of the criminal justice system. I would like to introduce you to Advancing Steps a nonprofit organization that I created to provide transitional housing to the formerly incarcerated. Advancing Steps mission is "to help change the lives of the formerly incarcerated by providing evidence-based wrap-around services while focusing on education and/or vocational training as a path to living-wage careers". Our organization has an agreement with the College of the Desert and California State University, San Bernardino, and continues to build relationships with other educational providers.
Our services will include transitional housing, case management, guidance counseling, marriage and family counseling, life skill classes, financial literacy classes, addiction classes, resume and interviewing classes, public speaking classes, educational field trips, and any other services as needed. We already have some professionals ready to come aboard and will employ approximately 10-20 people.
Advancing Steps and our Board members are working tirelessly to get our doors open by March of 2021 and need your donations to help us achieve this goal. Please donate generously and if you would like an official receipt from Advancing Steps please don't hesitate to reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, please visit our website-Advancing Steps.org
All donations are 100% tax-deductible as Advancing Steps is a 501 (3) (C) nonprofit organization under federal and state laws.
