On January 29,2019 Adele Haven Sutherlun (Addie) made her debut at 8:30pm. She was surrounded by the love of her family, wrapped in her mommy’s arms, and at approximately 9:49pm gained her angel wings. At 20 weeks Addie was diagnosed with bilateral renal agenesis (BRA) and a calcified valve in her heart. BRA is a condition where neither kidney develops and therefore Addie was unable to create her own amniotic fluid, which meant that her lungs weren’t able to develop fully. Since Addie’s lungs were smaller than they should’ve been her heart took over the extra space, which resulted in an enlarged heart (cardiomegaly). We knew as her parents that every second that we could get with our sweet Adele was worth everything to us; therefore we continued our pregnancy and made as many memories as we could with her while allowing Addie to let us know when she was ready to stop fighting. We were worried that with Addie’s heart that she wouldn’t be able to handle labor and delivery, but she proved to us that we were wrong. She was born into the world butt first and breathing on her own, which was a huge blessing. She weighed 2lbs 11.2oz and was 14.25in long. Adele had the cutest button nose and the most beautiful face we have ever seen. She is loved beyond compare and will forever be missed. With the help of Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep we were able to capture Addie’s beauty and the unconditional love that so many people felt for her.
