Most of you know that AutismUp is part of our lives in my family. The community has been a lifeline for me for many years. I value the friends I've made, and knowing that there is a community that relates to some of the unique issues of our family and is there for me, for us.
Adam has benefitted from classes at AutismUp, gaining fitness, building skills (currently cooking!), and is comfortable with the community.
The reality is that autism lasts a lifetime - children with autism grow up and become adults with autism, as Adam has. Support, community, and skills training is needed across the lifespan. AutismUp is and will be with families every step of their journey.
All parent supports and training are offered free of charge. It still costs staff and money to provide, though. (which is one reason we need your help!)
In September AutismUp moves into the Golisano Autism Center on Science Parkway, will be centrally located and will triple offerings, with a goal of empowering many more of the families of the 10,000 people in our area who have autism. (another reason we need your help!)
A not-for-profit that is not government funded, AutismUp relies on charitable contributions from the community. Our annual KiteFlite Fundraising Challenge will help AutismUp do what it does best - serve the estimated 10,000 people in our community with Autism. Any contribution you can make is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your support.
