On May 19th we are competing in our 2nd annual Day of Champions event in Westport, CT. Last year with your support our team raised $25,000 for Experience Camps!! Our team, "Adam's Family Friends", honors Alok's friend & co-worker, Adam Sackett. Adam passed away suddenly from bacterial meningitis 9 years ago, leaving behind his loving wife & 2 beautiful young children.
While our team name is dedicated to honor Adam and his family, it is unfortunately not the only tragedy we have been affected by. Last December, Tom Bagot, another friend of ours, lost his life to pancreatic cancer. He left behind his loving wife, Laura, and 3 young boys. Will, their oldest, is a friend and hockey teammate of our son Chandan. It is a stark reminder of how fleeting and precious life is, and how quickly everything can change.
Day of Champions will raise money to send grieving children to a free week of Experience Camps for children who have lost a close relative, usually a parent or sibling. Whether childhood grief directly resonates with you or has just touched the outer perimeter of your life, it's hard to deny the importance of a place where kids can be with other kids who "get it" after losing someone critically important in their life. Experience Camps is that place!
Experience Camps is a place where kids can laugh, cry, play, create, remember the person who died, or forget the grief that weighs them down. It's a place where they can feel "normal", because everyone there has been through something similar and understands what it's like to lose someone important to them. It's a home away from home. And just about everyone will tell you..."It's the best week of the year".
Please support our team in raising funds to send grieving children to a free week of Experience Camp!
With gratitude & love,
Cindy, Alok, Layla, Chandan, & Jade Reejhsinghani
