When I was small, I decided that I wanted to be an obstetrician. Seeing my mother go through three pregnancies, and going with her to doctor appointments and sonograms helped me to see that pregnancy and childbirth are very special times in a family's life, and I love the idea of being in service during those times. When I learned about Every Mother Counts, and the harsh truths that inspired the organization, I felt strongly that I wanted to help pregnancy and childbirth become safer around the world. I see how lucky we have been. I love that the organization spreads knowledge as a solution. I love that it celebrates motherhood.
