My name is Lupita Hernandez and I brought Achilles International here to Tucson because I want to create more opportunities for people with disabilities. In taking part in an organized sport such as running, we will - as a group - shine a light on the need for a more inclusive world where everyone can achieve their fullest potential.
We are raising funds to pay race entry fees for those who would not otherwise be able to participate, for uniforms, and adapted equipment. The running community is generous and runners / walkers without disabilities who would like to learn to guide an athlete with a disability, please complete the Volunteer Intake form and sign up for Achilles Tucson. Workouts are suspended temporarily pending the lifting of restrictions on social distancing, but we are hopeful to be back running together soon!
Other expenses such as hand-sanitizer, face coverings and hand-held thermometers to prevent the spread of COVID19 within our group when we return to training are also necessary.
As an affiliate of this wonderful not-for-profit organization, we are taking part in The Jim Click Millions for Tucson Raffle! Local non-profit charities in the Greater Tucson area that have IRS-designated 501 (c) 3 status can participate and keep 100% of the funds raised. The tickets are $25 for one, $100 for five. Because there is a chance you might win, the funds are not tax-deductible.
We cannot sell raffle tickets on this site, but if you make a donation in an amount that matches the number of tickets you'd like AND send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org with your Name, Address, City, State, Zip Code, Phone number, Email address -- we will complete the details of your raffle ticket and send your stub to you via snail mail for safe keeping or call me at the phone number below and I'll respond..
Winners will be selected in a drawing on Dec. 11, 2020.
Otherwise, we hope you'll make a donation and we hope you will join us for some exercise!
