Hi. My name is Jenny Hwang. I joined Achilles six years ago in Denver, Co. I didn't know that Achilles would change my life. I just came out for some exercise and to meet some new people. One night in January 2014, I was walking with Mike Oliva, the president of Achilles Denver. He asked; if I ran outdoors. I replied; that I only ran on the treadmill. He let go, and he told meto start running. I ran a few feet; then I came back. that started my running career.
When I returned home to NY, I decided to join the Achilles NYC chapter in Central Park. I started in June 2014. I stood right next to Cat, the Achilles president.
After 6 5 years,I am still in love iri with running. I still love getting outdoors for a run. I have run many races and achieved so much. I have met so many friends. I have have gone on many daring adventures all with Achilles. I had the opportunity to run the Paris Marathon in2018.
I am raising money fo r Achilles for the 2019 NYCC Marathon. IAchilles is like a second family. I am honored to be a member. Please help disabled athletes reach that impossible dream. Without your support, disabled children and adults would remain at home on the couch. I didn't discover running until my late 30s. II wasn't able to participate in mainstream sports as a young adult due to my blindness. You can help Achilles by giving as little as $1. Your donation will help disabled children and adults keep physically active. Also thanks to you, a disabled athlete soar in a race whether a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon,or Marathon. Help them become super heroes.
Thank you. Go Achilles!
