The winner will receive a trip to Disney World and a bib to run in the 2020 Disney Half Marathon. Those that meet the $1000 and $2000 dollar level will receive some awesome high performance running gear! You got this, team!.. Go Achilles!
About Achilles International: OUR MISSION IS TO EMPOWER PEOPLE WITH ALL TYPES OF DISABILITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN MAINSTREAM ATHLETICS IN ORDER TO PROMOTE PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT, ENHANCE SELF ESTEEM, AND LOWER BARRIERS TO LIVING A FULFILLING LIFE. ACHILLES HAS SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND VETERANS. ACHILLES KIDS PROVIDES TRAINING, RACING OPPORTUNITIES, AND AN IN-SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES, WHILE THE FREEDOM TEAM BRINGS RUNNING PROGRAM AND MARATHON OPPORTUNITIES TO OUR WOUNDED, INJURED AND ILL VETERANS. When you watch the NYC Marathon and see athletes using their arms to propel pushrim or hand-crank wheelchairs through the course, those are Achilles athletes. The people running with a tether between them? Those are visually impaired or blind Achilles athletes. Amputees, people with Multiple Sclerosis or Cerebral Palsy, those recovering from organ transplants, or living with diabetes -- all are Achilles athletes. While Achilles programs focus on athletics, the truth is, sports are simply the tool for accomplishing the main objective: to bring hope, inspiration and the joys of achievement to people with disabilities. Achilles has more than 90 chapters in over 40 countries worldwide. Your contribution helps us continue this important work.
