Now through December 3, 2019, Access Community Action Agency and the Eastern Coordinated Access Network (ECAN) are accepting donations for the “Be Homeful” project, a Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) campaign to end family homelessness in our region and around the state, for #Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Access Community Action Agency and the Eastern Coordinated Access Network (ECAN) teamed up with the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) to fundraise for the be homeful project, a campaign to end family homelessness in our region and around the state. This project allows nonprofit organizations like Access to raise funds online to end family homelessness in Eastern Connecticut by establishing an emergency fund available to all caseworkers serving families at the front door of the shelter. Do you want to spread a little bit of cheer to a homeless child this holiday season? With a donation of $25 today, an adorable Paddington™ plush bear, book, or blankie will be given in your honor to a child in a shelter. Your gift will provide critical emergency assistance to help families on the verge of homelessness stay where they most want: at home. The best part is that thanks to the CT REALTORS® Foundation for generously providing the bears, and to Citizens Bank for their valuable support of our campaign, every dollar raised will allow CCEH to provide emergency assistance to help children in Connecticut stay at home through the be homeful project. It’s a win-win!
$1,000 is the average amount required to prevent a family from becoming homeless, so for every $1K raised, you will help a family with young children stay in the comfort of home. That means for every 40 bears you “raise”, at least one family will not know the hardship of homelessness. This is the fourth year Access and the ECAN teamed up with CCEH and with the funds raised, Access’s Emergency Shelter has so far been able to divert 7 families including 12 parents and 14 children from homelessness.
Please help a family in need by donating or starting your own “Bear-Raiser” for #GivingBearsDay. Your gift can make all the difference!
