About the AAYI Kappa League
Kappa League is the signature youth development initiative of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Guide Right program. Kappa League targets African American high school males and is designed to help the young men grow and develop their leadership talents and aspiration levels. It provides both challenging and rewarding experiences to enhance and enrich their lives. Program activities include: leadership and personal development workshops; community service; career planning and college visits, social/cultural events; and sports competitions that are all planned and implemented by Kappa League members themselves.
The AAYI Kappa League has become a highly respected program as it contributed to the AAYI Alumni Chapter being judged the best Guide Right Program in the U.S. at the National Kappa Convention. We were also recently recognized by the Detroit Chapter of the Association for Fundraising Professionals with the Sparky Anderson Award for Youth in Philanthropy for fundraisers the young men did for local youth oriented non-profits during 2018 and 2019. Individual members have been recognized with national and local Kappa League scholarships, invitations to join non-profit boards and selection as a finalist for the Ann Arbor Area Young Citizen of the Year.
While the AAYI Kappa League is sponsored by the Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, needed funding also comes from contributions by community members that want to support the goals of the program. This helps us keep registration costs accessible to all interested young men regardless of income. Our goal is to raise $4,000 during this fund drive.
