On March 16, I will be sleeping outside on the Northshore as a participant in the Giving Hope Homeless for a Night. I will sleep on the ground with little to no comforts of home and every chance of inclement weather … sounds crazy, right? Not nearly as crazy as this: There are an estimated 500 thousand people sleeping on the streets or trapped in some sort of life threatening situation each night. I want to make a difference by helping the men, women, and children in my area to recover and be able to re-engage back into society healthy and healed. Please make a donation to help me reach my goal of $1,000 Please consider donating to this cause as the Giving Hope Retreat, New Orleans Mission, & LynHaven Retreat can’t end homelessness without partners like yourself. The men & women that will come to Giving Hope Retreat, New Orleans Mission, & LynHaven are often looking for help and feel they have nowhere else to turn. • In 2017, it was estimated that over 553,742 were homeless. • 184,661 Of those homeless are families with children. • 39% suffer from some type of mental illness. • In 2017, there was a 25% rise in Human Trafficking in Louisiana. • 38% of homeless people were dependent on alcohol and 26% abused other drugs.
