Now more than ever, Ann Arbor Civic Theatre needs your help. All theaters are struggling worldwide - but none more than community theaters - without a base of financial producers and high-dollar corporate donors, amateur theaters depend on local donations and ticket sales. Without shows, without ticket sales, without program ads, without foot traffic, without set and costume and prop rentals, A2CT is entirely dependent on your donations at this time.
A2CT has an almost $8000 monthly operations cost - between building rental, utilities, insurance, staff funding, and other fees and expenses. As a community theater we do not qualify for any of the Stage Spaces loans offered by the State of Michigan.
From the looks of things, we won’t be able to offer in-person ticket-buying experiences this year, and we are aiming for our first live in-person performances in January of 2022. That isn’t our choice - it's based on state requirements - you might be aware that Ann Arbor has additional mandates above and beyond those of the state of MI that restrict even further indoor or outdoor theater experiences.
Every donation helps - and now more than ever we need your help.

$25 pays our utilities (electricity, gas, phone, internet) for one day
$75 pays our dues, bank fees, and administrative fees for one day
$115 pays our building rent for one day
What you can do to help right now is to donate today — and share this with your friends, and anyone you know who loves theater and can’t wait for it to be back!
Ann Arbor Civic Theatre is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit theater organization founded in 1929. A2CT is open to all members of the surrounding communities to participate both onstage and behind the scenes. It presents plays, musicals, junior theater productions, sponsors improv troups, educational and workshop experiences, social outlets, play readings, theater tech education, community outreach, and other opportunities. It provides studio and shop space, props, sets, and costume rentals. In short, it not only provides its own theatrical opportunities, it provides resources and support for the entire extended community. Thousands of shows later, A2CT continues to provide quality entertainment for SE Michigan and NE Ohio, and has served as a stepping stone for future professionals in the field of entertainment and performance arts.
Now more than ever, YOU can help A2CT survive this pandemic and return to live theater as soon as possible.
