Every year, 30,000-45,000 young adults are ejected or “aged-out” from the foster care system. Without a community or family surrounding them, 1 in 5 will become homeless and over 50% of them will experience periods of homelessness. For the resourceful former foster youth that are able to secure a living space after they are ejected from the system, the majority do not have the means for furniture, art, or supplies to make that house a HOME.
This is where A Sense of Home comes in, A Sense of Home collects donated home items and transforms the houses/apartments of former foster youth into an inspiring safe haven for them to finally call “HOME”. A Sense of Home brings together volunteers, such as myself and my team, to serve as a family would — using donated furniture to make the youth’s first permanent living space beautiful — giving them dignity, self-worth & pride. Support this organization in making an impact on the lives of former foster youth today by donating to “A Sense of Home”.
Thank you for opening your heart. Much love to you and yours.
