Due to the housing foreclosure crisis and other economic conditions that negatively impacted our community, our children have been left with no safe place to play. The children in our community now play in abandoned houses and the streets, causing us to fear for their safety each and every day. Broken glass, speeding cars, and abandoned houses put our children's lives in constant danger. We believe a child should have a place to play that is clean, safe, and visually and physically stimulating. Our goal is to raise money to install a playground in our community. We plan to install playground equipment such as swings, slides, a merry-go-round, and a playscape, environment friendly surface, and fencing. Having a near-by, safe space for children to play will lift the spirits and ease the minds of their parents. In addition, having a playground for the children of our community can help to increase the benefits of having good health now and in the future and decrease the risk of having disease such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity.
