Kansas City’s community spirit is something we can all be proud of. Now is the perfect time to show your love for your neighbors by helping SAVE, Inc. serve the most vulnerable members of our community. Those who have lost their incomes and are facing homelessness need our help to stay housed and healthy. Whether you can give $5 or $500, every dollar adds up to help SAVE, Inc. continue our operations during this global pandemic and provide housing assistance for those individuals and families who would otherwise be searching for a place to sleep each night.
Many of us celebrate May Day each year by dropping off flowers or treats to our neighbors to brighten their day and spread some cheer. This May Day, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we could all use a little more light and happiness. This time is a struggle for all of us, but especially for our neighbors who have lost their source of income, are struggling to pay their rent and utilities, and who are facing homelessness.
Our neighbors who are low-income, have lost income, and are homeless or at risk of homelessless are at a heightened risk at the best of times, and more so now. It’s impossible to quarantine yourself if you are in and out of shelters searching for a place to sleep each night, or if you are low-income and desperate to make ends meet in order to pay rent. People who are low-income or homeless also often have higher health risks due to prior health conditions and concerns about being able to pay for their healthcare.
SAVE, Inc. is continuing to serve this vulnerable population during this crisis, but we cannot do so without your help. SAVE, Inc. has postponed several fundraising events and, as a result, we have seen a decline in donations since the beginning of March. Donations from our community are essential, as they help us cover operational costs in order to be able to provide housing support and case management directly to our clients. Those that come to SAVE, Inc. for help are in some of the highest risk categories during this pandemic, which makes it even more important to continue our services.
This is why during the month of May we are launching a virtual giving campaign, beginning on May Day, to celebrate our community’s love and support for our neighbors and to raise essential funds to support SAVE, Inc. and our clients. Whether you can give $5 or $500, every dollar adds up to help SAVE, Inc. continue our operations during this global pandemic and to provide housing assistance to those individuals and families who would otherwise be searching for a place to sleep each night.
