The Coming Home of Clan Strachan...
The proverb, "A rolling stone gathers no moss," means, 'A person who does not settle in one place will not accumulate wealth or status or responsibilities or commitments.'
During the First War of Scottish Independance, the House of Strachan were staunch supporters of John Comyn, Earl of Buchan; with a moderate to high probability cousins of John Comyn, Earl of Buchan; supported the Balliol and Comyn cause; opposed Robert de Bruce's claim to the crown of Scotland; and were subsequently disinherited of the Barony of Strachan on 1 November 1315 by King Robert de Bruce.
Since 1315, Strachans have wandered without a home. However, today, the Strachans are coming home, and your family needs help and support #youbelonginstrachan.
An inn has sat on the banks of the Feugh since before the 16th century. On the outskirts of Strachan, this land is currently for sale and represents a perfect opportunity for our family to build a Clan Strachan Gathering and Heritage site.
For the first time in 705 years, when the Stachans were disinherited by Robert de Bruce, Clan Strachan will hold property within the old barony of Strachan.
The Clan Strachan Society is at nearly 90% of our £315,000 goal that we hope to reach by August 25, 2020. We need your help urgently! As a 501(c)3 non-profit, your donation may be 100% tax deductible, and will go to the acquisition and preservation of this historic site for you and future generations
Over the next few weeks, we will be hosting some virtual fundraising events/meetings that tell our Clan's History as well as why this piece of land is of importance and of value to Clan Strachan. Please join us and keep posted to our social media accounts (Facebook, @clanstrachansociety on Instagram, and Twitter) for updates and the countdown!
A large rolling stone, which will roll no more, and will gather moss, may come to symbolise the coming home of Clan Strachan! For those who are willing to make donations, we will be adding a special memento to you on this historical site (please see the second image for our sponsorship levels). Make your mark in history while helping us pave a path to the future! The Stone of Strachan will be on site and celebrates the 705 years the Strachans have travelled the world and announces the return of The Strachans!
No longer do we fumble for change in our pockets while indistinctly muttering our surname unsure of it's pronunciation. Instead we proudly announce our surname, either Strackan or Strawn and spelt Strachan, Strahan, Strawn, Straughan, Strawhun, Strain, etc. Please, be a part of history, be a part of the family, and help us reclaim this beautiful piece of historical land in the Strachan village! Cheers & Clachnaben!
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you'd like to make a GBP donation, please multiply your US dollar amount by 1.5 which should cover currency exchange rates, wire transfer fees, and other bank charges. Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated!
