My goal is to raise $1,000 in the two weeks before I leave Tsnori: If I could get 27 people to give $37 for each month I served in the Peace Corps, that would turn into 2,745 GEL. That could buy a whole lot of bricks! When the bricks are finally laid next year, Nana and Keti will paint your name on one.
Please be one of the 27 friends to give $37 for each month of my Peace Corps service! Or choose one of the following:
$15 can buy lamps to keep the English library bright for children to read
$20 can pay for new cafe chairs for visitors from all over the world
$37 could buy food for a community celebration
$50 could keep the lights on for a whole month!
I am in constant awe of my counterparts--in particular, the two co-founders of the Knowledge Cafe, Nana and Keti. They are passionate, motivated, and tenacious. They single-handedly turned the sleepy town of Tsnori from a place without a community gathering space to somewhere people from all over the country come to visit! The Cafe is now a flourishing center of non-formal education where the community comes together to engage with one another: from 5-year-olds to 95-year-olds.
The Knowledge Cafe is currently housed in a rented house, but we are building our own space in order to become fully self-sustainable. Now we need to raise 100,000 more GEL (only about $36,500 more in USD) to pay for the final construction!
Please consider adding your name to a brick, and asking 1 other person who you know believes deeply in education to add their own name to a brick.
You can forever be a part of the Knowledge Cafe and help ensure that my adopted community has this home for engagement and education for generations to come.
*As I am still a volunteer and cannot accept donations, my friend Susana will be accepting them to donate to the Cafe's campaign.
