Habitat is building in the Boothbay region and we need your help to provide more affordable workforce housing options for local families.
Our first project is a new three bedroom home on Campbell Street in Boothbay Harbor.
Jake Hodgdon, Shelby Pinkham, their three year old son, and newborn daughter are the future homeowners for this project.
"We are beyond blessed for this opportunity that Habitat for Humanity has given us. We never thought something like this would happen for us and we couldn't be more excited to be homeowners. Even our three year old is excited to have his own room painted blue. Thank you so much to everyone who is involved and made this possible", said Shelby.
In addition to purchasing the home when it is completed, they will be providing 400 hours of Sweat Equity during the construction process.
Jake and Shelby and many generations of their family have roots in the Boothbay area. Shelby has worked as a CNA and a stay at home mom with her son and daughter. Jake is a familiar face at the local transfer station where he has worked for seven years.
Like others in the area they have struggled to find a place to live that they could afford. For four years the family has been living with Jake's parents while they continued to search for a home of their own.
You can be a part of this and future projects by making a donation to support construction. To learn how you can volunteer with Habitat contact katie@habitat7rivers.org or call 207-504-9344.
