A Farm Less Ordinary (AFLO) continues its mission to provide employment and a welcoming community to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The Department of Homeland Security has identified farming as an essential business during this pandemic. And we are still working hard!
Due to recent Covid-19 shift in priorities, we've lost a significant portion of our funding recently, as well as some sales outlets for our produce. As a result, we have transitioned our programs to:
- Adopt new practices to fund our sales and operational costs throughout the entire growing season
- Continue training our Growers in skills that can be used on the farm and in a variety of workplaces.
- Expand our community relationships by working in creative ways to distribute our produce to people who need it.
And just like everyone else, we're missing out on the "normal" work day and need your support to continue providing education, socialization, and routine for our employees, whose worlds have been dramatically disrupted as well. We also need support in order to continue providing produce to a local area food bank, for people who really need some healthy food during these rough times.
Please support our work and check our our webpage for more information on how you can get involved!
