Resplandor De Vida (RDV), a Christ-centered home for impoverished children, located in the outskirts of Juarez, Mexico, opened in October 2010. RDV is currently home to approximately 30 children. With the completion of the new facilities in January 2020 they are expected to bring that number to 60. With this expansion and the pressing needs it has become imperative to find ways to save energy and resources. An extensive energy evaluation was done and it was decided that solar power would save the organization about $7000 per year. The initial investment for equipment and installation was quoted at $30,000. The directors and employees at RDV are dedicated to helping each and every child in all aspects of their development. This means concentrating on their physical, mental and especially their spiritual well-being. Prayer, education, bible study, proper nutrition, rest and hygiene, music, handcrafts, tutorial help, and exercise are part of their daily lives at Resplandor De Vida. The substantial savings from the solar power installation will go a long way in providing additional resources towards the children and enable RDV to assist even more children.
